962 Andy Woodward“  I am the safer neighbourhood officer for four rural wards and I am assisted in local problem solving in these area by two Police Community Support Officers PCSO Sally Brooks and PCSO Karen Broad. I have been a police officer with Hertfordshire Constabulary since July 1999. I spent the first five years of my service on the response team at Hertford and have been in my current post since March 2004. I really enjoy working with the local people and partners in my rural neighbourhoods to keep the crime rates in these areas as one of the lowest in the county.”962 Andy Woodward   last updated: Feb 26th, 2013

Local news and updates for Hertford Rural West last updated: Mar 2nd, 2013

Hertford Rural West is divided into four separate neighbourhoods - Datchworth and Aston, Watton At Stone, Hertford Rural South and Hertford Rural North.

One of the issues we get most complaints about is motorists exceeding the speed limits in some of the villages, particularly in Watton At Stone, Stapleford and Burnham Green. We are continually working with our partner organisations such as Herts Highways and the Road Safety Partnership in order to reduce this problem. This is through enforcement action, traffic calming measures and educating motorists about the dangers of speeding.

Crime in the Hertford rural area has shown a gradual reduction over the past year and is down about 6% so far in 2012/2013 in comparision with the same period last year and our detection rate stands at around 27%.

Our three policing priorities were set with our local district councillors at our latest locality meeting on 26th February 2013.

These are:

Anti social behaviour - Tewin.

Recently we have received several complaints about youths doing graffiti at the Pavillion in Tewin. There have also been reports of vehicles using the car parks to donuts in their vehicles. We are now regularly patrolling these areas in the evenings.

Anti social behaviour - Watton At Stone

We have also received complaints about youths congragating at the community hall in Watton At Stone and causing anti social behaviour.

Burglary:

Hertford rural south ward has suffered from a small spate of burglary dwellings over the past few months. A 28 year old male from Wood Green has recently been charged with 3 of these burglaries, along with 5 others from elsewhere in the county. We will ensure that this is the end of this problem and are on patrol in the areas which were affected.

THEFTS

There have been a number of thefts recently from vehicles in East Herts which have been left unlocked. Officers would like to remind residents to always leave your vehicle secure and remove all valuables. For further crime prevention advice, please click here.
